anonymous21 asked:

My lcd is sony Bravia XBR4 – 40inch:
18000:1 resolution.
Motion Flow 120 htz.
Full HD.

I’ve tried my ps3 and the picture was awsome.

Why does the picture look bad when watching standard digital cable channels ?
Guys could you explain the reason why that is happening?

It sounds like you’re going to have to subscribe to HD television.

you need to get HDTV for it to look just as good as it did before and better

Depends how you are connecting the cable box. It should give a reasonable picture via the S-VHS output, if not have a go at your cable company to get a new one.

its because the regular cable picture was “low-quality” but it didn’t matter because Tube televisions aren’t able to display fine details.

so you were living in a world of “blissful ignorance”…like a half blind man enjoying a 5 year olds finger painting as if it were a Monet or Picasso.

but when you upgraded to a High quality Television, it displayed the “low-quality” regular cable picture as just that, a “low-quality” picture.

you are now someone with good eye sight that is now viewing the 5 year old finger painting, as a mess , because you can now Actually SEE what you are looking at.

…sorry if i confused you with the metaphors

you must also upgrade your cable programming to HD,

I think the Bravia X model includes, a special option that is specifially designed for increasing the quality of “standard definition” cable signals.

    look through your service manuals.

    good luck.

(low-quality can be interchanged with the word “standard definition at any time)

All new HDTV’s are built for HD programming. If you don’t get HD programming, LCD’s will look worse than your old TV, which is what you are experiencing.

I work at a major electronics retailer, and whenever someone buys a new HDTV, we always highly, highly, highly, recommend upgrading to HD cause people always complain that their older TV looked better.

Your OLD Tube TV was designed around 480i signals….

Your NEW TV is designed for 1080i, and it has to still convert the 480 signals to 1080….

CONVERSIONS always add some distortion to the signal….

Snow on your TV set is caused by the tuner’s MIXER CONVERTING your signal.
Color shifting is caused by your Color Demodulators…
Blurry Blocks is caused by your Analog to Digital Converters…

Conversions are a necessity, but when we get MORE HD channels we won’t be seeing the A/D conversions using HDMI…..

That’s the promise of the NEW TECHNOLOGY….
So you’ll just have to use the OLD TV for the OLD signals, and you’ll be happy with the results.
