Tanya asked:
I’m looking for a 32″ and I have never bought one before and I have no idea what to look for on the specs. Please help? They say highest contrast ratio is best, but all the one with the lower look better than the ones with the most in the store. I’m so confused. I see them go from 700:1 – 26,000:1.

I won’t know about exactly the best one, but Bravia is going good when it comes to LCD….
The Samsung LN52A650
Sony’s XBR Bravia Line is concidered by many to be the BEST LCD line on the planet. The picture quality isVERY crisp, super high Contrast Ratio, VERY bright screen. They’re just BEAUTIFUL. HOWEVER, they are definately not the cheapest sets out there. If you want the best, invest in a Sony, otherwise, I would recommend cheaper Brands like Toshiba or Sharp.
the contrast ratio is a bit confusing. there is static contrast ratio and dynamic contrast ratio. in plain English, higher the number the better.
between the Sony Bravia L-Series KDL-32L4000 32-Inch 720p LCD HDTV, and the Samsung LN32A450 32-inch 720p LCD HDTV, i’d go with Samsung. there is only a $30 price difference, and it has a contrast ratio of 10000:1 compared to Sony’s 2000:1
Samsung LN32A450 32-inch 720p LCD HDTV
$730.32 Free Shipping
Sony Bravia KDL-32L4000 32-Inch 720p LCD HDTV

hope this helps.
ps. don’t get sucker into buying expensive HDMI cables…get the cheapest one you can find, it makes no difference. there are 6ft hdmi cables on sale on amazon for like $5, get that.
