LCD TV picture scramble and freezes?

lcd picture
Eva asked:

I have an 21″ LCD tv with freeview. Unfortunately although picture quality starts great, starts to scramble and freeze, same with the volume after 5mins if lucky. Has anyone else had this problem and been able to sort out?

Any help/information would be greatly received.

It does sound like interference. Do you every play computer games on it? This can affect the picture quality.

I think your Freeview box is having trouble with the signal it is receiving.

As others have said, noise local to the unit may cause momentary freezing and scrambling, but as your problem gets worse with time, I would suspect that the Freeview tuner is overheating.

Most freeze problems are caused by a faulty ariel or bad wiring.
Make sure that only good quality wire is used and that all terminals are sealed from the elements and that shorting out can’t occur.
You may need to adjust your ariel or replace it with a higher gain one.
    Trees may be obstructing it.
You would be best advised to call a TV engineer who can test all aspects of your set up.

plug it into a surge protector, also try unplugging for 5 minutes and see if that helps reset the factory settings

    Your antenna placement is poor….

You need to get that antenna UP and away from large trees and buildings.

And if you’re surrounded by large buildings, you will need to subscribe to Cable for a solid signal.
