how to fix a lcd monitor no picture no signal?

My samsung 15 inch monitor about 4.5 yaers old turns on but no picture i play with the settings buttons and get it to light up for a fraction of a second is it possible it could be the connector cable or somthing loose.

    For a fraction of a second?

    The backlight is dead. You need to get a new monitor.

    I think that you may have a problem with the backlight. This is how i would go about diagnosing it. Press the menu button on the monitor while it is on and look very very closely, with the light on, at the screen. If you see the menu faintly then it may be a backlight problem.

    To fix this simply buy a cold cathode backlight tube that works with your monitor.
