The eye “thingy” is the only way to use that camera. You are seeing what the camera sees then you use the eye “thingy”. The LCD is used to look at your images and make adjustments to the settings. What are you doing with this expensive camera anyway if you don’t like the eye “thingy” usage?

By the way, its called “viewfinder”.

The ‘Eyepiece’ Viewfinder is the ONLY way to see what you’re shooting – That’s the point of having an SLR type camera. So you can see the effect of different lenses on your photo or to ‘Compose’ your shot. “LIVE” LCD’s are used on ‘Point-And-Shoot’ type cameras only. – SORRY!

lol, it is an slr camera so the only way to view a shot is to look throguht he viewfinder. some cameras like the olympus’s and the sony’s have live view. you probably should have researched this before you bought such an expensive camera.

The XTi or 400D does not have “live view” You must use the viewfinder to compose your photo.

Sorry bro, you can’t do it.

You’re in Real Camera Land now and you have to use the eye thingy like the pros do.

Time to take the training wheels off!
