I have hooked up my computer tower to my 40″ LCD TV for the monitor but the picture is about 1/5th the size of the tv screen positioned in the middle of the screen. How do I increase the viewing size to fit the tv screen 100%. I have a 2005 model emachines tower.

I plan to buy a laptop for use with an external LCD of the largest size that is practical; sharp image with no jagged edges or “640 x 480″ looking stuff, thanks. Speed and storage are less important than good large picture. What brand models of each component should I be looking at as of November, 2010? Thanks

There is only one impact on the screen, but the rest of the screen is black. I would be happy with the tv if I got some kind of an image on it, I wouldnt mind seeing the *****. I have seen really badly cracked screens that still showed a picture, but this screens glass is not even cracked.

I recently got Netflix and a cool option is that you can watch movies via the computer. I wanted to connect my big screen to get a better picture and sound. Since my TV had a VGA plug in i thought i could hook it up as if it was a monitor and i did but no sound is coming out only picture. anyone have suggestions what i can do?

I know that I can plug it in. But what about using say a 40″ 1080p lcd hdtv as a montitor? Would it look as crisp as the 24″ viewsonic I have now? Should I stick with lcd’s that are MADE to be pc monitors?
Thanks!
