can anyone tell me why the picture on my new lcd tv seems to be floating?

We bought a 32inch jvc lcd flat screen tv and it seems that the picture quality is poor it seems to be floating but more so when we are watching dvds can anyone explain this for me.

    take it out the bath or you may live in a flood zone but hey dont worry the insurance dodggy claim will mean you will get an even bigger one next time blood sucker

    Your tv is HD. Your cable and DVD player are not. They put out a 480i/p signal. Your TV is 720p, it has over 3 times the pixels of the DVD and cable signals.

    If you get an upconvert DVD player, or HD format player, or HD digital cable programming, your picture will look much better. Its most likly not the TV, just the signal. Not enough pixels.

    Ignore the previous answer, your LCD TV should be able to decide what mode to display the video in. This could be a problem with Auto Format. Your TV might not be able to decide what aspect ratio to use. Try taking the aspect ratio off Auto, see if that works. If you find out what it is, post the answer here so we know please.
