Well, the Tv set would have to be pretty COLD to become sluggish…
    Like 0°C…

Picture freezing is caused by LACK of data…a broken wire in a Component or HDMI cable, a slpppy connection that moves around during gameplay, even heavy conversion from Analog-to-Digital during intense scene changes will overdrive the A-to-D convertors and cause lockup…

Now which is yours…My first impression is your Low Def video may be taxing the A-to-D converters in your TV set. If you’re running and no action other than running gives you a smooth picture, then your TV set is not overtaxed at that moment…NOW if you’re running, and fighting, and the background is changing and it has a lot of small variations throughout the picture that changes all the time…THAT would tax the A-to-D converters !
But also note that your PS2 is being taxed to create that picture…and if you are trying to use a NEWER game that plays better on the PS3, and possibly is backwards compatible on the PS2…then that NEW GAME is just overtaxing the PS2 !

Hey…we all have to upgrade our computers due to this same fact….newer software runs slower and slower and takes up more resources even when we are still only using UPGRADEs to our programs…IE7 upgraded from IE6 is an example I can think of.

    Online gaming is another….
