I just bought a new RCA 42 inch LCD TV. The picture is kind of blurry and the colors look smeared. Why?

Hi, I have recently bought a new Samsung LE32A457C1D 32″ LCD tv. I plugged my old ariel coaxial lead into it (i live in a basement flat and have never seen my ariel! don’t even know what else is connected to it!) and the picture quality is worse than my old TV ( iguess my old tv was a crt)! Can i buy a better cable or will the picture be poor until everything does digital? I have heard/read that there is some problem with TVs having to receive analogue signals and then upscale to digital within the tv set? Have i understood correctly? Will better ariel leads enhance viewing pleasure?

Thanks for responses. It does seem to say that it is digital ready.
I have got a signal booster but it does no improvement.

I have a freeview box but the TV has digital tuner so i can receive freeview without the need for additional set top box, Or do you think that running it through my original set top box will improve picture?
So does this mean that the only way to get a good picture is to wait until all tv signals are fully broadcast as digital?
Is there such a thing as a HD digital freeview box that will improve my picture if connected to LCD TV with HDMi lead?

Is an LCD screen going to give a better picture than my old Philips 32PW9527 CRT?

I have a 5 year old Philips 32 ” widescreen CRT with Pixel Plus (model 32PW9527)into which I run Sky+.

I am getting tempted by a Toshiba LCD 42 ” 1080p display (42X3030D).

My question is – am I going to be disappointed with the SD picture compared to my old CRT?

I may upgrade to Sky HD but the range of programmes just doesnt yet seem worth it.

It dips on top and bottom about 1 inch. It looks like an arch or its being stretched, if that makes sense.

i hooked it up using the component cables (rgb) to the tv. the tv is a samsung 32″ new model. it supports 720p and 1080i both of which the 360 can produce. but when i played nba 2k7 the people looked horrible! there were edges every everywhere. small stair like lines on the peoples outlines and buildings and what not. is this how it really looks like on hd? is there anybody else out there that has encountered this? i thought it was supposed to look really smooth.
so it shouldnt matter that im using component cables? coz i have the premium 360 not the elite. anyway, will try this later when i get home. thanks for the answers!
